It has been a fantastic year for ByTheOwner.com as more than 5,000 of our clients have SOLD and saved! This was a 44% increase in SOLD properties over 2006. We are looking forward to improving even more in 2008 as we aim to help 10,000 clients sell their home privately next year!

ByTheOwner.com recently passed the 5000 SOLD properties mark in 2007. This is an incredible accomplishment, as it is an increase of more than 40% over 2006 results. ByTheOwner.com is on pace to sell more than 1% of all the homes in Canada this year. Our sold results do not include the sold properties from our partner sites (OKhomeseller.com, Saskhouses.com, and nfprivatesale.com). Combined with our partner sites, the total number of FSBO properties sold would be approximately 6,500 so far in 2007.

ByTheOwner.com maintains an average of 160,000 weekly visitors to our website and we have more than 5300 homes for sale. These stats, combined with our excellent website, customer service and signs, are the main reasons that we sell more homes than any other For Sale By Owner website in Canada.

Here are ByTheOwner.com’s Canadian For Sale By Owner stats for November 2007:

New listings increased 54% from 666 new listings in November 2006, to 1024 new listings in November 2007

Sold properties increased 46% from 276 sold properties in November 2006, to 403 sold properties in November 2007.

Total active listings increased 56% from 3,700 active homes for sale in November 2006, to 5880 active homes for sale in November 2007.

ByTheOwner.com’s website statistics for the month of November 2007:

Website visitors increased from 386,860 unique visitors in November 2006, to 678,038 in November 2007. This is a 75% increase in unique website visitors from November 2006 to 2007.

Pageviews increased from 3.9 million page views in November 2006, to 5.9 million pageviews in November 2007. This is 49% increase in pageviews from November 2006 to 2007.

Unique visitors and pageviews are the two most useful statistics when it comes to measuring the exposure you will receive from a For Sale By Owner website. Unique visitors is the number of individual people coming to look for properties on the site. Pageviews is the number of pages that those visitors look at. Fro example, on ByTheOwner.com in November 2007 we had 678,038 unique visitors and they looked at 5.9 million pages. This means each visitor looked at approximately 9 pages.

Some websites claim to have a certain number of “hits”. This is not a valid measure of website activity, because a “hit” can be counted a number of different ways. For example, if a page has 30 images on it, and one person goes to that page, it could be counted as 30 “hits”. This would be like saying ByTheOwner.com received more than 173 million “hits” in August. ByTheOwner.com does not quote how many “hits” we receive because it is not a valid stat. Unique visitors and pageviews are the only real measure of website activity.
